About Addison

I grew up in a very creative but also very active household, a place where equal importance was placed on the arts and design, as well as getting outside in nature. This has had a huge influence on the garments I produce through Söder Studio. It is essential to me that our pieces elevate people’s wardrobes and form curated looks, whilst at the same time can become staples to be worn day in day out. I wear test out all our garments and as a cyclist, they must be suitable for the variety of everyday life.

I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you’ve found it interesting and have a deeper understanding of Söder Studios and what we are trying to achieve.

Addison

Söder Studio was conceived in our floating home,

a widebeam houseboat in South London that I’m renovating with my partner, to create our dream home on the water. This is where the first Söder Studio prototypes were developed and sewn, as well as providing the backdrop for many photoshoots.

Living and working on the water is so important to me.

It brings me inspiration and clarity amid the relentless noise of everyday life. I grew up close to a large lake in Canada and now I consistently find myself being drawn to water. As the brand has developed, I still feel the constant pull of the water and our studio is now located only 10 minutes away from the marina in shared artists’ studios.

I’ve worked in the luxury womenswear industry as a pattern cutter since 2010, where I’ve honed my craft under some of London’s most respected and revered fashion houses. I’ve truly admired their fastidious attention to detail and subtle finishings that add elevated touches, elements of which I want to bring to Söder Studio, albeit in my own way.

I’ve been brainstorming a clothing brand that “does things differently” for many years. I’ve been privy to a lot in the fashion industry and wanted to create a change for good, something that exhibits compassion for the way our clothes are made. I have always wanted to create something that could have a positive impact on the community, that allows people to dress to a particular aesthetic but that doesn't compromise on ethics. So finally, during the pandemic, I created Söder Studio to focus on what was important to me.

Labour

Each sample and small batches or pre-orders are cut, sewn and finished in London. Staying true to our early beginnings we work with a small team of talented machinists who have honed their skills over many years.

Larger production runs are made with a manufacture in North London. Investing in the skilled craft they bring to each project helps ensure the detailing and construction are built to last.

We want each customer to know the work put into their Söder Studio garments, and we enjoy showing behind the scenes of the process.

Waste

Fashion is one of most polluting industries and over production is one of the leading causes. An approximate 92 million tons of textile waste is created annually.

Our mission is to reduce the waste we produce. By offering pre-orders to online customers we can better gauge the demand and tailor production accordingly. Alongside producing limited run collections we are also exploring creative ways to use off-cuts and up-cycled materials.

We’re excited to share more of this with you in the coming year.
